Located in Clark County, Nevada, Henderson is the second largest city in the state. As of 2013, the population was approaching 271,000, and the city is found within the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Henderson is a great place to both live and work, and it was ranked as the second safest city in the U.S. by Forbes magazine in 2011.Bloomberg Businessweek has also named the community as one of the best cities to live in the U.S.

There are several institutions of higher learning in Henderson that can prepare students for great careers. Nevada State College is located here, as is the Roseman University of Health Sciences and the College of Southern Nevada. Graduates will be prepared to work with one of the community’s largest employers, including St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Green Valley Ranch, and Medco Health Solutions.

Even though Henderson is closely located near Las Vegas, there are a variety of fun attractions located within its city limits. Adults may like to spend a night out at the M Resort Casino, while families with children may like to spend a hot summer day at the Cowabunga Bay Water Park. Nature and animal lovers have several attractions from which they can choose in the city, including the Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve and Lion Habitat Ranch. Other popular attractions in the community include the Revere Golf Club, Galaxy Theater, and Clark County Heritage Museum.

The City of Henderson is known for having a hot desert climate. This means that the summers are hot, but humidity is usually quite low. Average high temperatures in July can exceed 100 degrees, so it is important that homeowners stay safe from the heat by having an efficient air conditioning system in place. While average high temperatures during the winter are usually in the mid-50s, cold snaps with snow are possible, so homeowners will need to also have a heat pump or furnace in place to stay comfortable.
