Summerlin South is a census-designated place in Clark County, Nevada. This affluent community is sometimes referred to as South Summerlin, and it is located next to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area on the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley. It is a southern extension of Summerlin, the master-planned community, and this is where it receives its name. The community has a population of over 24,000 residents, and it is governed by the Summerlin south Community Association. Often considered one of the most prestigious Las Vegas Valley neighborhoods, the area includes many luxury mansions, including a guard-gated community known as The Ridges.

There are several attractions located in the area of Summerlin South. Located out of the hustle and bustle of Las Vegas, outdoor spaces like Village Green Park are available. Visitors and residents can schedule tee times at Canyon Gate Country Club or Badlands Golf Club. Visitors who are looking for a more relaxing experience may prefer a day at Red Rock Casino Resort and Spa. There are also a variety of great restaurants to check out, including BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Rachel’s Kitchen, Due Forni Pizza and Wine, and Vinter Grill.

Summerlin South and the rest of the Las Vegas metro area are known for having a hot desert climate, featuring hot summers and mild winters. Despite the high heat, humidity is usually quite low, making the weather conditions bearable during the summer months. Average high temperatures in July and August can exceed 100 degrees, so it is important that residents stay safe from the heat by having an efficient home cooling in place. While average high temperatures during the winter are mild and usually in the mid-50s, cold snaps with snowfall are possible. During these periods, residents will need to also have a furnace or heat pump in place to stay comfortable.
